• The Best Practices for Designing Course Content group (BPDCC) is a collaborative research team that weds the experience and input of accessibility specialists and instructional designers at over a dozen institutions.

Best Practices

• The goal of this research group is to draft a set of best practices tailored specifically to the needs of instructional designers and to adapt those practices to other content creators like faculty.

Centralized Information

• Although there are numerous accessibility resources, they tend to be spread out by topics and applications, and many accessibility considerations for specific application features simply remain uncharted. The BPDCC research group is investigating these often overlooked areas and creating a set of documents that centralize a set of best practices for instructional designers and other content creators.

Content Creators

• We believe that before instructional designers can advise faculty on universal design principals, they should be aware of accessibility issues related to document types and technologies frequently used in the E-learning environment--not only essential html considerations and MS Office applications, but presentation software like Flash, Captivate, and Camtasia that designers typically use to create interactive multimedia content.
