Program Profile

Graduate Professional Development Certificate in Materials Engineering


Program Description:

The College of Engineering offers a graduate certificate program for those interested in developing expertise within materials engineering. With departmental approval and acceptance into the MSME program, 12 credit hours taken for the certificate program may be transferred into the online MSME degree. All courses are offered via the Internet using streaming technology.

Materials
Must complete three of the following courses:
GE 411 -- Introduction to Reliability Engineering
ME 430 -- Failure Mechanisms in Engineering Materials
ME 431 -- Failure Analysis of Mechanical Components
ME 450 -- Modeling in Materials Processing
ME 471 -- Introduction to Finite Element Analysis
MSE 445 -- Corrosion of Metals

Materials Failure Analysis
Must complete three of the following courses:
GE 411 -- Introduction to Reliability Engineering

ME 431 -- Failure Analysis of Mechanical Components

Admission Requirement(s):
- BS degree in mechanical or materials engineering from an accredited institution in the United States or an approved institution of higher learning abroad.
- Have a 3.0 or higher (A = 4) GPA in their BS degree program.
