Master's in Education (Ed.M.) with a Concentration in Community College Teaching and Learning

Human Resource Education

Program Description:

The Community College Teaching and Learning (CCTL) master's program at the University of Illinois is designed to increase the teaching effectiveness of community college faculty and build the instructional leadership of supervisory personnel. This curriculum is focused on the effective design and implementation of quality instruction, contemporary instructional technologies, and other instruction using innovations such as peer-based collaboration and active learning strategies. The highly interactive courses collectively provide participants with a foundation of instructional theories, skills, and practices to support existing professional development efforts in community colleges. The CCTL curriculum is a cost-effective professional development model that is accessible to all faculty and instructional leaders in community colleges, irrespective of fields of specialization or location.

Delivery Method:  All course instruction will be online via the Internet, allowing students great flexibility in scheduling their learning. Each course includes a time each week when students will be required to participate in live  online class sessions.

Total Number of Credit Hours:  This program will award a Master of Education (Ed.M.) degree after the completion of 36 credit hours (eight 4-hour courses and two 2-hour courses).

Tuition/Program Costs:  The current tuition rate for each 4-hour course is $1280 (USD) and $604 for 2-hour courses. Note that reading materials are not included in this amount. The tuition rate is the same for in-state, out-of-state, and international students. The cost for future courses is subject to moderate changes in accordance with the actions of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.

Admission Requirement(s):

· A graduate application.  The degree program you want to select on the online application is: "Human Resource Education (Ed. M.)." Later in the application, when asked for a specialization, type "Global HRD Online" or "CCTL Online." Our Program Code is 10KS4096EDMU.

· 3 letters of reference

· A statement of purpose

· Transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate work. "Issued to Student" copies are not considered official by the Graduate College. Transcripts should be sent directly from your institutions(s) to the address below.

· A non refundable application fee of $60.00 (USD) for domestic students and $75.00 (USD) for international students.
