Testing and Proctor Information
Any student wishing to enroll in online NetMath courses must have a proctor to supervise tests. If you are a high school student, your high school coordinator may serve as your proctor. However, all non-high school students will need to obtain the services of a proctor. The proctor you choose must meet our requirements (see below).
Most NetMath classes have 2 midterm exams and a final exam. Math 220 and Math 231 also have a mastery exam in addition to the midterms and final. Quizzes are given online and do not require proctoring. We allow 90 minutes for midterm exams, 60 minutes for the mastery exam and 3 hours for final exams. Math 016 might have more exams than stated above depending on the semester in which you take the course.
Guidelines for choosing a proctor:
A proctor must meet one of the following criteria and cannot be a member of the student's family:- Principal or Superintendent of Educational Service Region, School, or District, either Public or Parochial
- Dean, Academic Department Head, Extension or Correspondence Administrator, Registrar, or Official Testing Service of an Accredited University or College
- Education Officer (Armed Services Personnel Only)
- Full-Time High School or College Instructor
- Librarian at your local community library
Be sure to ask your proctor if compensation is required for test proctoring. Please note that any compensation to the proctor is strictly between the student and the proctor. The NetMath program does not compensate proctors.
The NetMath staff is also equipped to proctor exams for our students. If you wish to take your exams at the UIUC campus and use the NetMath staff as your proctor, please fill out the proctor form and list NetMath staff as the proctor.
Documentation for Proctors
There are two forms dealing with proctoring. The first form provides the background about the person you intend to be your proctor. You can either submit this form electronically by clicking on this link and filling out the information, or you may submit the form via mail or fax by printing out this Proctorship Form and sending it to the address or fax number at the bottom of the form. The approval of this person is contingent upon the information provided in the form. Exams cannot be faxed or e-mailed to proctors. The second form is Proctor Guidelines. This details all of the procedures a proctor must follow when administering tests and/or quizzes. A copy of this will be sent to your proctor with each exam.
