Students registering for GIS courses after 08/24/08 will have 6 months to complete their course.

Withdrawing from a GIS course

You may withdraw from a GIS course at any time before taking the final examination with no prejudice to your academic record. A withdrawal request form is included in the printed Study Guide or online course materials. You may also use the Withdrawal form located on the Academic Outreach Web site. Once you have requested to withdraw from a course, you cannot be reinstated. You must fill out a new enrollment form and pay the full course tuition and fees to enroll in the course again.

Not Completing a GIS course

If you do not complete the course requirements by the end the nine-month course completion period, your enrollment will expire and you will be dropped from the course. The course will be removed from your University of Illinois transcript if you do not finish it. Your tuition and fees will not be refunded.

Refund Schedule and Information

  • Enrollment is rejected: full refund is made
  • Withdrawal request is received during the initial period (from the date of enrollment until 5 PM on the tenth working day following the date of enrollment) and fewer than half of the course lessons have been submitted to the GIS program: tuition minus administrative and instructional fees and $12 per lesson submitted will be refunded
  • Withdrawal request is received after the initial period but within six weeks of the date of enrollment and fewer than half of the course lessons have been submitted to the GIS program: tuition minus the cost of one credit hour and $12 per lesson submitted will be refunded
  • Withdrawal request is received within six to ten weeks of the date of enrollment, and fewer than half of the course lessons have been submitted to the GIS program: one-half of tuition charges not to exceed the refund due during the first six weeks of enrollment, minus $12 per lesson submitted, will be refunded
  • More than one half of course lessons are submitted by student regardless of when withdrawal request is made: no refund is possible
  • No refunds are possible after the first ten weeks of enrollment.

** Administrative fees of $41 per credit hour and a $30 Instructional Support and Materials fee are nonrefundable in any situation.
