Areas of Specialization: experienced in working across the disciplines, with special expertise in the health professions, particularly continuing medical education

I joined Conferences & Institutes (C&I) in 2005 as a part-time, Chicago-based staff member. This position follows my retirement after a 33-year career in continuing professional education and conference planning at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). During my tenure on the Chicago campus, I established and directed the UIC Office of Conferences and Institutes and also served for eight years as the director of the UIC Office of Continuing Education and Public Service. While at UIC, I received the University-level Award for Professional Excellence in the Administration of Continuing Education (1982), and the UIC Chancellor’s Award for Professional Excellence (1992).

My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Education (English/language arts) from the University of Kansas, and a master’s degree in the administration of higher and continuing education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In addition to hands-on involvement in the development and administration of individual programs, I enjoy consulting and providing workshops on related topics, such as program feasibility assessment, budget planning and management, marketing, and customer service.
