| Join our parade Grand Marshalls, University of Illinois’s “first dog,” Webster and “first lady,” Mary White as all dogs and their owners are welcome to walk around the Allerton grounds to kick off the event. |
| 12:30 PM | Educational Talk: Puppies 101 | Visitor Center Auditorium | Staff from the Champaign County Humane Society will review the basics of bringing Fido home including supplies, training, and more. |
| 12:30 PM | Guided Hike with Fred and Ginger | Main Tent | Join the Allerton Dogs, Fred and Ginger, along with Allerton staff for a guided tour of the Allerton gardens. |
| 1:00 PM | Demonstration: Rally Obedience | Meadow | Come watch this exciting team sport for dogs and their handlers. |
| 1:30 PM | Educational Talk: Basics of Dog Grooming | Visitor Center Auditorium | Joyce Henderson, certified pet stylist, will demonstrate the importance of basic dog grooming. She will teach the fundamentals including checking eyes, ears, and mouth; tooth care; trimming nails; and brushing and grooming the coat. |
| 1:45 PM | Demonstration: Hunting Dogs | Meadow | Trainer Ron Parsons will exhibit his dogs’ skills while showing the connection between hunter and retriever through hand signals, whistles, and more. |
| 2:30 PM | Demonstration: Agility | Meadow | Maybe you’ve seen it on Animal Planet, now see dogs display their amazing abilities in person! |
| 2:30 PM | Educational Talk: Pet First Aid | Visitor Center Auditorium | Veterinarian Tina Wismer will share information on key safety issues for your dog including poison control, first aid, and what to do in an emergency. |
| 2:45 PM | Guided Hike with Fred and Ginger | Main Tent | Join the Allerton Dogs, Fred and Ginger, along with Allerton staff for a guided tour of the Allerton gardens. |
| 3:00 PM | Demonstration: Police Dogs | Meadow | Police dogs are used to track down criminals, sniff out illegal materials, search buildings, and do other jobs to assist their human officers. Police K9 Officer Douglas Beckman, Police K9 Roxey, and others will show off these dogs’ amazing abilities and answer questions. |
| 3:15 PM | Educational Talk: Bite Prevention | Main Tent | Geared towards children aged 4 through 1st grade, participants will learn basic skills to avoid being bitten by dogs—both strays and family pets. |
| 3:30 PM | Educational Talk: Life Stages | Visitor Center Auditorium | This talk will guide you through the life stages of your dog, so you know what to expect and how to care for each stage. |
| 4:30 PM | Educational Talk: Love those Pets! | Visitor Center Auditorium | Join Cheryl Weber from the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital for a historical look at the special bond between humans and animals. |
| 5:00 PM | Pet Idol Talent Contest | Main Tent | All dogs are welcome to join in the fun by showing off their unique talents. A panel of judges will select the top 3 performances and prizes will be awarded. Up to 20 acts will be registered and performances should last no longer than 2 minutes. |
